WHY pay and display at Murdoch Station car parks?
Will this solve the lack of parking space? Transperth earns enough money from the infringement notices put on people’s cars when they can’t find parking because Transperth has not provided enough parking bays for the number of commuters.
In one day I observed seven cars parked “illegally” with infringement notices on their windscreens – that’s $350 just there.
Back to the pay and display: do you know what you get for your $2 a day? A shoulder or waist-high fence with a “guard” sitting in his little box. He’ll make sure you don’t stop in front of the ticket machine to get a ticket when it’s raining cats and dogs (you have to park, then get a ticket) or he’ll do his patrols to see if you are displaying your $2 ticket.
If not he’ll put a $50 infringement notice under your windscreen wiper. Read the terms and conditions board and you’ll see that Transperth does not take any liability for your vehicle – so what are we paying $2 for?
The Transperth coffers, that’s what.
I have also just read that Canning Council has given approval for “no parking” signs to be erected near Cannington station where commuters are parking because there is not enough parking room at that station.
Is anyone going to give the commuters alternative parking?
At Murdoch 355 bays are to be made pay and display, which raises $710 a day. Another thing, fares have gone up.
Enough is enough Transperth; how about doing the right thing by the people who pay your wages – produce more parking bays, get rid of the $2 pay and display and stop being greedy.
