IF you have a green thumb and you don’t mind getting your hands dirty, the Friends of Yellagonga Park could use your help.

The group is calling for new members to help with planting and weeding at Bindaree Terrace bushland, and with propagating endemic species for planting days at the volunteer-run Landsdale Farm School in Madeley.

Member and publicity officer Gary Tate said it was rewarding work.

“It’s a unique patch of bushland with quite a few wildflowers that show their faces every spring,” he said.

“Unfortunately, there are quite a lot of weeds in there but as we remove them, those flowers come through.

“We get a lot of comments from appreciative members of the public when the flowering plants, especially those along the pathways, start to bloom.”

Mr Tate said there was plenty of weeding, replanting and maintenance work to be done at the park and encouraged those interested in becoming a member to contact the group by phoning 9302 4677 or by emailing the Friends of Yellagonga at friendsofyellagonga@ bigpond.com.
